Covered Bridge Quilters Guild – next meeting @ Evangelical Covenant Church

The Covered Bridge Quilters Guild will meet at 7 p.m. July 10 at the Evangelical Covenant Church, 24 N. Main St., Princeton; enter through the front door just off of Main Street.

The program will be “My Bag of Tricks” presented by Polly Perkins/Lucky 2B Quilting. Guests are welcome to attend for a fee of $5.

There will be no workshops through the summer.

Children’s Drama Camp

The Prairie Arts Council is pleased to announce registration for the Twelfth Annual Children’s Summer Drama Camp for children entering 2nd-9th grades. There will be a morning camp and an afternoon camp (9-12 and 2-5 PM) running July 14-25. The camp cost is $85 with special rates for siblings. Need-based scholarships are also available upon request for those who meet the criteria.
Each camp session culminates in the performance (12 PM and 5 PM on July 25) of an original play written specifically for the campers and, to a large extent, tailored to the needs and abilities of the campers.  Campers in each session of camp name their own production. Children get the hands on experience of creating a show, from set and light work to costuming to performing.
Payment is expected by June 1. Please make checks payable to The Prairie Arts Council.

Princeton Community Band Concert
Jul 20 @ 6:00 pm

The Princeton Community Band will present a concert at 6 p.m. Sunday, July 20 in Soldiers and Sailors Park in Princeton.  Featured will be Phil Kaufmann singing Gershwin’s “I Got Plenty o’ Nuttin'” from Porgy and Bess, as well as “At a Dixieland Funeral” with Dixieland Combo: Gene Montgomery, clarinet; Zach Taylor, trumpet; Tim Harris, trombone; Mitch Campbell, tuba; Aaron Nelson, drum set.

Three more brand new pieces on the bill include selections from “Les Miserables,” “The Best of Mancini” (The Pink Panther, Baby Elephant Walk, The Sweetheart Tree, Peter Gunn) and “Grand Canyon Suite” by Ferde Grofé.

The concert is free, lawn chairs are suggested, and refreshments will be available for purchase.

St. Patrick Parish, Arlington – Annual Chicken Dinner @ St. Patrick Parish

St. Patrick Parish, Arlington, Annual Chicken dinner is Sunday, July 27. Serving from 11am to 1pm in Bishop Franz Hall.

The menu is fried chicken, German potato salad or French fries, applesauce or lettuce salad, homemade pies and desserts, and a beverage.

Adults $7.00; children 10 and under $3.00; and preschool free. Tickets purchased at the door, carry-outs available.
