Ag in the Classroom Golf Outing – Bureau and Lee County Farm Bureaus @ Chapel Hill Golf Course
Jun 29 @ 9:00 am – 5:55 pm

Bureau and Lee County Farm Bureaus will be hosting their 8th Annual Golf Outing for supporters of Ag in the Classroom. The outing will be held on Thursday, June 29th at Chapel Hill Golf Course in Princeton. The Tournament will be a shot-gun start, 4- person scramble. Tee time is 9 a.m. and lunch (provided by COUNTRY Financial) will be served for all teams during the event. Proceeds from the tournament will benefit the Bureau and Lee County Ag in the Classroom program.

Today’s youth are two and three generations removed from the farm. That’s why we feel it is so important to bring agriculture awareness to local students. Supporting the Ag in the Classroom program helps us provide free agriculture materials, presentations and resources to local teachers and classrooms in Bureau and Lee Counties. So, whether you consider yourself “good on the green” or just want to have a fun day out, this is the tournament for you!

Polish up your clubs and support a good cause. Team fees are $200 for Basic Registration, $225 for Super Registration and $250 for Premium Registration. Registration includes 18-holes of golf, ½ cart and lunch. If you are not a golfer, but would like to support this event, several sponsorship packages are available.

Registration is suggested by June 7. Registration after the deadline will be accepted if space is available. Tee time starts at 9:00 a.m. we hope to see you there!

Bureau County Farm Bureau – Free Water Testing for Nitrates @ Bureau County Farm Bureau
Jun 30 @ 8:00 am – 10:00 am

Free Water Testing for Nitrates

The Bureau County Farm Bureau, has teamed up with Nutrient Stewardship of Northern Illinois to host free water testing open house days for private landowners and operators. Each Friday, an open house from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. will be held at the Bureau County Farm Bureau, 535 Elm Place, in Princeton.

Tested water can be collected from field tiles, streams or ponds. The testing and results of water samples are for private land owner/operator use only. The water test is free, and confidential, no results will be saved. Results are simply a snapshot in time of nutrient levels and can vary greatly depending on the time of year, temperature, rainfall, and crop and in-field practices.

When collecting samples keep in mind that a measurement of flow (the volume of water leaving a site) would help determine the total nutrient loading into a body of water. Also, an additional measurement of acres being drained would help determine the pounds per acre leaving the field.

Sample Collection Instructions:

    • Sample containers should be clean and free of any residual chemicals or detergents.

    • Water samples need to be at least 8 ounces.

    • Samples should be taken as close to the testing time as possible (preferably within 48hrs).

    • Samples should be kept refrigerated if not being tested immediately.

For more information about the test and additional testing sites visit: http://www.illinoiscbmp.org/Water-Testing/ or contact Bureau County Farm Bureau at 815-875-6468.

Dec 8 @ 8:00 am – 10:00 am
