1st United Church of Christ in Sheffield will host their next “Community Coffee” on Saturday, October 4th from 7 – 10 am in the U.C.C. Parish Hall. All are invited.

The Princeton Peace and Justice Roundtable will host a reception and book signing for Owen Lovejoy scholars, William F. Moore and Jane Ann Moore, at the Lovejoy Homestead log cabin in Princeton from 3 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4. The Moores are authors of “Collaborators for Emancipation: Abraham Lincoln and Owen Lovejoy”, published earlier this year by the University of Illinois Press.

The Illinois Valley Community College Wind Ensemble, directed by Gene Montgomery will offer a free concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5 at LaSalle-Peru High School’s Matthiessen Auditorium.
The afternoon performance will include the music of Glenn Osser, Johann Strauss, Frank Ticheli, Leroy Anderson, John Williams, Louis Armstrong and selections from the Wizard of Oz.
The ensemble includes IVCC students, local and regional music educators, and community members dedicated to the promotion of quality wind and percussion music. In addition to on-campus concerts, the ensemble also performs at community festivals and events, and works with other universities and community bands in joint concerts.
The Village of Wyanet’s clean-up days will be October 6, 7 & 8. Residents must have all the waste they want removed out to the curb by 7 a.m. on Monday October 6th. Signs listing restricted items and other specifications will be posted at the Post Office. Please phone the Village Hall at 815-699-2631 with any questions.
Possibilities/DBSA, the local depression and bipolar support group, will meet twice in October.

The Illinois Valley Community College Jazz Ensemble will perform in concert at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7th in Hall High School’s auditorium.
The Illinois Valley Community Hospital Grief Recovery Group will next meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 8, and Wednesday, October 22 in Conference Room “C” on the fourth floor of IVCH.
The group allows persons who have recently suffered the loss of someone close to them to share their feelings and experiences with others who have also lost loved ones through death.

On Saturday, October 11, and Monday, October 13 (Columbus Day Holiday), the Seatonville Congregational Church, Independent will have open a Clothing Pantry to the community. The clothing pantry will be open from 9:00 AM until 12:00 PM noon on both days and a variety of adult and children’s clothes will be available to individuals and families from the community.
