Christmas Eve Services at St Matthews – Princeton @ St. Matthews Lutheran Church
Dec 24 @ 7:00 pm

St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Princeton invites all to attend two different Christmas Eve Services on Wednesday, December 24 at 7:00 pm and 10:00 pm.
The 7:00 pm service is Traditional Candlelight Worship using Christmas Carols throughout the service. St. Mathews’ Choir, Bell Choir, and Brass Ensemble will help lead worship. Based on Luke 2:1-20, the sermon is A Gift from Heaven (What do you want for Christmas?). Holy Communion is by intinction (dipping the wafer into the cup).
The 10:00 pm service is entitled “Celebrate that Silent Night” and begins informally by sharing cookies and hot chocolate. After the opening prayers, this service continues by casually entering the sanctuary singing The First Noel. This service includes more favorite Carols not included at 7:00 pm. Based on John 1:1-14, the sermon is entitled Song from Heaven and will share the story of how Silent Night was composed in a moment of chaos to become a favorite Christmas Carol. Holy Communion is at the communion rail (with individual cups).
Both services conclude with singing Silent Night by candlelight, but the 10:00 pm service has a surprise while singing Silent Night as will be shared in the sermon. As most of the two services are different, a person would be welcome to attend both if so inclined.
As an additional opportunity for worship, the Sunday, December 28, 9:00 am service is Lessons & Carols offering more Christmas Carols not included on Christmas Eve. Various Bible readings precede each Christmas Carol to become the sermon message of the day.
St. Matthews is located at 416 E. Dover Rd. in Princeton. For more information email or call 815-879-6491.
