Perry Memorial Hospital will offer the BLS course on Thursday, May 11, 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the White Oak Classroom at the hospital. Instructors will train participants using the American Heart Association’s BLS certification course designed for those working in the healthcare field. The student will participate in practice sessions on manikins and then be required to perform CPR, choking rescue and use of the Automatic External Defibrillator on the adult, child and infant.   A passing score on a written exam is also required for course completion.  This course is based on the American Heart Association’s longstanding and well researched guidelines for CPR and emergency cardiovascular care. Course fee is $40 which includes the book, supplies and certification card. The deadline to register for this course is April 27. Contact Marcia Hartwig, RN, Education Coordinator, at 815-876-4449 to register.
