The next meeting of the Bureau County Genealogical Society will be on Thursday evening, March 23.  The organization cordially invites the public to attend the meeting which will feature Esther Tracy as the evening’s speaker.  She will talk on the topic “Bureau County in the 1800’s Through the Newspapers.”  The meeting will begin at 7:00 pm at the Society library at 629 South Main in Princeton and is free to all who attend.

Tracy is a retired Bureau County teacher having taught in the Manlius and Princeton schools.  She has been a county resident for over fifty years and during that time has become passionate about researching Bureau County’s history, its people, and homes.  Through her volunteer service at the Society library she has spent countless hours abstracting information from the microfilmed newspaper collection.  She will share with the audience many local historical events and provide research tips both for genealogists and historians.
BCGS would like to remind the public that the research library is not only open M-T-Th-F each week, but it is also open the first Saturday of each month.  The business hours are 10 until 3.  Volunteers are always present to assist researchers having genealogical questions and to guide them in using its resources.  There is no cost for this assistance.
