Obituary – Barbara Fahs

Barbara Ann Fahs, age 84 of Van Orin, died Thursday, November 08, 2018 at Heritage Health of Peru.

Barbara was born on February 15, 1934 in Ohio, the daughter of Howard and Lucille (Hoffman) Townsend. She graduated from Ohio High School and completed nursing training in Davenport. Barbara married James A. Fahs on October 11, 1952 in Ohio. She worked at Perry Memorial Hospital, Harper Wyman, part-time book keeper at Van Orin elevator, book keeper at Van Orin Co-op Oil Company for 25 years and Fast Stop in La Moille. She enjoyed being with family, grandchildren and friends, playing cards, camping and going to the casino. She also enjoyed making crafts and taking her things to shows, playing the piano, going to country/western shows, rodeos and sporting events. Barb was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Ohio.

Survivors include her husband, James; four children, Debra Lorenzi of Ladd, Janet (Pete) Walker of La Moille, Dan (Kim) Fahs of La Moille and Joe (Jessie) Fahs of La Moille; eight grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren and one sister-in-law, Carol Townsend.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Don Townsend; one son-in-law, Mark Lorenzi and two children in infancy.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2018 from 8:30-11:00 A.M. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Ohio. Memorial Mass will follow at the church at 11:00 A.M. with the Reverend Gregory Jarzombek, Celebrant officiating.
