James ‘Jim’ Calvin Schaefer, 74, of Princeton, IL., passed away on December 30, 2017 at Perry Memorial Hospital in Princeton surrounded by his family.

Jim was born on November 11, 1943 in Sioux Falls, SD. to Calvin Buehler and Lucille Mary (Elliott) Schaefer. He graduated in 1961 from Parker High School. In 1966 he moved his young family to Princeton, IL to begin his career at BF Goodrich/ Poly One where he worked as a Forman- lab operator. He then retired after 35 years of employment. Jim enjoyed Motorcycling, golf, and riding the Polaris with his son and grandson. He was an avid reader, a devoted Green Bay Packers and St. Louis Cardinals fan and he also loved to travel.

He is survived by one son, Michael James (Heidi) Schaefer; two daughters, Janet Kaye Spanos and Jill Ann (Scott) Cumpton, one brother, Keith Schaefer; one sister, Sharda (Lyle) Kratcha; eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents.

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 5, 2018 from 10am-Noon at Norberg Memorial Home. A service will follow at Noon at the funeral home. Cremation has been accorded. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery in Princeton, IL.
