Date/ Place of Birth: Dean was born at home in Bureau Township August 15, 1933 the son of Robert and Rowena (Jackson) Barnett.

Marriage: Phyliss Henkins on May 28, 1953 at Bunker Hill Church of God in Buda. They shared 63 years together. She preceded him in death November 12, 2016.

Survivors: four children: Mike (Christine) Barnett of Parker, CO, Dan (Gretchen) Barnett of San Diego, CA, Gary (Lisa) Barnett of Sheffield, IL, and Sherri Code of Bradford, IL; 11 grandchildren: Nicole (Matt) Cook, Alisha (Rob) Looney, Danny (Jessica) Barnett, Angela Barnett, Andrea Barnett, Jim Code, Robert (Gabriella) Barnett, Katelyn (Tony Gripp) Code, Jacob Code, Blake Barnett, and Jared Code; 3 great-grandchildren: Maxx, Maci, and Kinsli Cook; 2 brothers: Arvel (Barb) Barnett and Richard (Cheryl) Barnett.

Preceded in death: his parents, his wife, 3 brothers: Vernon, Dewayne, and Waylon.

Education: Buda High School with the Class of 1951.

Military Service: Dean served in the US Army 1st Division as a combat engineer stationed in Germany.

He was a member of the Bunker Hill Church of God, serving as a Deacon. He currently attended the Sheffield United Methodist Church.

Employment: Farmed for 9 years before beginning a partnership with his dad, Robert in 1963 starting Buda Feed and Milling, retiring after 35 years. He kept busy during his retirement years making trophies for Breedlove’s Sporting Goods and calibrating planters.

Memberships/Hobbies: 4H Leader, volunteered on the Buda Fire Department, serving as Fire Chief for a number of years, served on the Buda Town Board, member of Buda Jaycees, member of Hidden Lake Golf Course for 47 years, member of the National Fertilizer Solutions Association, serving on the Board of Directors for 3 years, member of the Bureau Valley School Foundation, Buda Lions Club, and Buda American Legion Post #0261. He was an avid golfer, reader, and a collector of many things. Dean enjoyed cruising in his 64 Ford Galaxy.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers to Abilities Plus in Kewanee, IL, Buda Rescue Unit and the Sheffield United Methodist Church
