Obituary – Neuman “Bud” Kirkpatrick

Neuman “Bud” Donald Kirkpatrick, age 86, of Manlius, died Thursday, September 21, 2017 at Heritage Health in Walnut.

Bud was born September 22, 1930 in Princeton, IL the son of James and Emma (Hoffman) Kirkpatrick. He graduated from Manlius High School and was a proud farmer for many years. Bud was a 4H Leader and enjoyed showing Purebred Duroc Hogs at many fairs. He loved playing his alto and tenor saxophones, fishing in lakes, rivers and oceans, doing crossword puzzles, gardening, bowling and traveling to Florida for the winters. Bud was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and was a member of the Farm Bureau, Manlius Sportsman Club and Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Manlius.

Survivors include one son, Jerry (Sharon) Kirkpatrick of Skokie, IL; two daughters, Juleen (Thom) Wright of Las Vegas, NV and Jan (John) Berlin of Vienna, VA; two sisters, Mary Hartz of Manlius, IL and Sharon (Myron) Anderson of Farmersville, TX; three grandchildren, Shawn (Jodi) Rieker of Genesse Depot, WI, Aaron (Poushali) Kirkpatrick of Chicago and Alyson (David Zwickl) Kirkpatrick of Chicago; and six great grandchildren, Joshua and Megan Rieker of WI, Nathan Burke of CA, Joshua and Abbi Burke of WI and Navya Kirkpatrick of Chicago.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, James Neuman Kirkpatrick; one sister, Maxine Hochstatter; one nephew, James Hochstatter; and his best friend and companion, Juanita Burba.

Visitation will be Tuesday, September 26, 2017 from 1:00 – 2:00 PM at the Garland Funeral Home in Walnut. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2:00 PM at the funeral home with Pastor Eldon Cook of the Walnut Bible Church officiating. Burial will be at Manlius Cemetery. Please join Bud’s family for a luncheon at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Manlius immediately following the committal service at the cemetery.

A memorial has been established for Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia.
