Lowell Thomas Drayton, age 86 of Walnut, died Thursday, June 15, 2017 at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.

Lowell was born on April 15, 1931 in Thomas, IL, the son of Asa T. and Marian (Brunner) Drayton. He is a United States Army Veteran and served in the Korean War. Lowell married Marilyn Brandau on July 1, 1951 at the First Lutheran Church of Ohio. He was employed by Northwestern Steel and Wire for 32 years until retirement. Lowell was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Ohio.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; his daughter, Janet (Lee) Mathis of Simpsonville, SC; his two sons, Lowell Thomas “Tom” (Nancy) Drayton, Jr. of Le Claire, IA and Robert (Jennifer) Drayton of Cottage Grove, MN; two brothers, Marlow (Wanda) Drayton of Walnut and Gordon Drayton of Elko, NV; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Roland and Kennard Drayton.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Sunday, June 18, 2017 from 3:00-5:00 P.M. at the Garland Funeral Home in Walnut. Memorial service will be Monday, June 19, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. at the First Lutheran Church of Ohio with Rev. Gene Vincent, officiating. Burial to follow at Fairfield-Greenville Cemetery in New Bedford, IL.
