Joseph “Joe” E. McCauley Jr., 87, of Princeton, passed away on March 6, 2017 at Liberty Village of Princeton.
Joe was born on July 5, 1929 in Princeton, IL to Joseph E. and Mary C. (Keleher) McCauley Sr. He was a 1947 graduate of Princeton High School. He married Lou L. Sapp in Princeton at the St. Louis Catholic Church on November 25, 1950. Joe served in the U.S. Army from 1951-1953. He was a farmer in the Princeton area his whole life. He also owned heavy equipment business in the Princeton for many years. He was a road commissioner for Dover Township, a former Elk member, and a member of the St. Louis Catholic Church and a member of the Wyanet Antique Auto Club. He loved collecting old autos and motorcycles.
He is survived by his wife, of Princeton; two daughters, Dee Patnoe of Melbourne, FL and Karen (Gerald) Kling of Evergreen Park, IL; three sons, John “Fred” (Jolene) McCauley of Princeton; Paul (Kathy) McCauley of Porter, IN; and Martin (Suzanne) McCauley of Madison, WI.; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one brother, Arnold McCauley of Wyanet; and many nieces and nephews.
Joe was preceded in death by one son, Joseph E. McCauley III in 2009; and one brother, Robert McCauley in 2006.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 11, 2017 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the Norberg Memorial Home in Princeton.
Funeral Services will follow the visitation at 11:00 a.m. Father Jeffery Stirniman will officiate. Burial will immediately follow at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Ohio, IL.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Joseph E. McCauley Art Scholarship at Heartland Community College in Normal.
